Don’t be too much brief or too much wordy:

Suppose, you have properly written your first pitch but in the second one (or follow-up), you’ve written something like “Hello! Remember me?” or “Hello! I exist, let’s fix a schedule for conversation” don’t show your professionalism.

“Hello, hope you’re doing well. I’ve sent a guest blogging pitch in the last week. Have you taken a look at it? Thanks”

The above example is not a proper format of following-up. It’s too brief and showing that you’re only interested in your own business.

Another mistake is sending too wordy follow-up email i.e. with hundreds and thousands of words. An editor can’t invest his/her time in reading one single email. Don’t include an introduction or such type of information while following-up.

That means your email needs to be concise, brief, straightforward, and to the point but it shouldn’t sound like a robot (just like in the case of the first example).

Following-up Too Frequently:

Sending follow-up emails on a regular basis could make the recipient annoying. And thus, you’ll be lowering the odds of your success.
