It is not enough to send just about any kind of follow up emails, what you need is a well-constructed, excellently written follow up email in the right format.
Online platforms are filled with different kinds of follow up email templates and formats but without a properly written email in the right format, you may never get the results you are expecting.
Follow up emails determine to a very large extent if prospects are going to respond to your emails or not. Most follow up emails gets ignored because they are not well-written in the right format and with the right information.
Most people receive hundreds of emails each day and about half of those emails are deleted or ignored. For your email to stand out and receive a response, you need to be creative in writing the follow up email.
How to write a good follow up email
Be confident in asking and requesting from your influencer
Most follow up emails lacks confidence. When an influencer read a follow up email and there is no level of confidence in it, your follow up email will either be ignored or your business proposal will be declined.
Let’s take for example;
Hello John,
I didn’t get a response to the email I sent to you regarding our product, I was wondering if you got the email or not?
Just in case you didn’t get the email, this is a reminding. I hope to receive your reply.
Thanks
Peter.
This template of a follow-up email lacks confidence. You are not confident in asking and you also lack confidence requesting. You seem to be scared of whom you are sending the follow-up email to and this will lead to a lack of trust from your influencer.
To get a better result, you should write the follow up email in this template;
Hello John,
I was expecting a reply to the email I sent to you last week regarding our product. I hope you received the email in one piece?
This is a follow up email to remind you of the previous email and I eagerly await your reply.
Thanks
Peter.
Writing the follow up email in this template will give the influencer an assurance that you are confident because you asked and request in a confident tone. Follow up emails in this format will get more response from influencers.
Tell your influencers how your products or services can benefit them
Follow up emails should not be just a reminder; it should also inform the influencer on how your products and services will benefit them.
You need to educate the prospects on how your product/services will benefit them and why they need your product/services.
Let’s take for example;
Hello John,
I was expecting a reply to the email I sent to you last week regarding our product. I hope you received the email in one piece?
This is a follow up email to remind you of the previous email and I eagerly await your reply.
Thanks
Peter.
This is a good follow up email, but it could be better. To make it a bit better to get more response, you need to add the benefit of your product/services.
To get a better response rate, it will be best to write it this way;
Hello John,
I was expecting a reply to the email I sent to you last week regarding our product. I hope you received the email in one piece?
Our product will be of great benefit to you because it will make your job easier by speeding up processing time.
This is a follow up email to remind you of the previous email and I eagerly await your reply.
Thanks
Peter.
- Add a call-to-action – Adding a call-to-action will prompt the person you are sending the follow up email to respond. Call-to-action are words or statements directing the reader of what to do and when to do it.
Call-to-action could also be a link whereby you ask your prospects to click on the link in order to get more information about your product or services.
Let’s use the same follow up email format;
