Gmail has a file attachment limit of 25 MB per email. If your file size is exactly 25 MB, it won’t go through because encoding will increase the size of the file.

If you compose a message, it will also add to the file size. So, the file should be a bit lower than 25 MB for it to successfully send.

If the file is more than 25 MB, your email will bounce back to you and Google will ask you to send it using Google Drive.

With Gmail file size limit, it is almost impossible to send video and audio files with Gmail due to their large file sizes.

However, there are ways you can still send larger files that are more than 25 MB with Gmail.

Using Google Drive or DropBox

You can send files that are larger than 25 MB using Google Drive or Dropbox. All you need to do is upload your files on Google Drive or Dropbox and attach the files from Google drive when composing your email.

With Google Drive, you can attach files that are up to 10 GB in size.

This allows you to attach as many files as you want in your email without needing to send different emails attaching smaller file sizes.

To upload files on Google Drive, just follow these few steps:

Step 1: Open Google Drive and click on “New” at the top left corner.

Step 2: Click on “File Upload”. If you want to upload a folder, you can click on “Folder Upload”.

Step 3: Choose the file you want to upload from your list of files and click “Upload”.

After you click “Upload”, it takes a few secs and your file will upload successfully on Google Drive.

Step 1: Open your Gmail and click on “Compose”

Step 2: Click on the “Drive” icon

Step 3: Select the files you want to attach and click on “Insert”.

Step 4: Click on “Send” to send the files to your recipient.

You can as well upload and attach files straight from your Gmail without first opening Google Drive

Step 1: Open your Gmail and click on “Compose”

Step 2: Click on the “Drive” icon

Step 3: Click on “Upload”

Step 4: Drag your files to the area or click on “Select files from your device”

Step 5: Select the files you want to upload and click on “Open”

Step 6: Click on “Upload” to attach the files to your email.

Step 7: Click on “Send” to send your email.

Breaking large files into smaller sizes

The other way you can send large files is by breaking them into smaller sizes. However, if you have a single large file, you may not be able to break it into smaller sizes. This option is not recommended.
